11s on openwrt

Dear devs,
I'm trying to have a working mesh network with avila boards equipped
with atheros wifi cards. As far as I understood I have to drop madwifi,
get ath5k (the version in kernel after 2.6.29). The main problem is that
openwrt comes with 2.6.26 in the latest release and 2.6.28 in trunk so I
have to cross-compile for an ARM processor compat-wireless-old to keep
the stable release or compat-wireless for the new one. If possible I'd
like to keep the .26 kernel.

I'm now playing with the options, I was able to compile
compat-wireless-old (but having problems in loading the modules), I'm
now on my first attempt with compat-wireless and .28.

What I'd like to know from you is:
- did anybody already tried this before? (ath+openwrt+11s)
- what of the standard is already implemented? the latest changelog I
have is from release 2.1, I couldn't find the following ones.

thanks,
leonardo.
