Help with Mesh Portal

Or can I?  I was browsing through the linux-wireless mailing list and I see that
YanBo had worked on a patch to support "bridge(802.1D)  mesh point  with wired
ethernet or AP to construct MPP or MAP":

It looks like YanBo's patch was accepted last September:

So...I'm still not sure.  Can I bridge a wired connection with a mesh connection?
 If not, is it because that functionality has not yet been implemented?  If so,
is there anything I can do to help implement it?
