OLPC mesh is based on an earlier version of the 802.11s draft (D0.01)
and diverges from it in a few areas. Some changes were introduced to
avoid interactions with legacy equipment that was not taken into
account in the draft (data frame format). Others were just frame
fields that had not been assigned a value in the draft and needed one.
There were also some OLPC specific optimizations that were not in the
draft (battery aware metric).
o11s is based on the latest draft, and will track any changes
introduced in future versions. We intend to start implementing some
form of OLPC compatibility once we have a minimally functional mesh
implementation (ETA February). This will require authorizations from
Marvell (e.g. we need to use their OUI in management frames, etc.)
Cheers,
Javier
